Refresh Yourself!

Being a good educator takes hard work and dedication. During the school year there is so much on our plate that we don't have much time to do the things that we like. Below is a list of things that educators need to do for themselves to help refresh their minds, bodies, and souls.

1. This summer take time to read for leisure as well as professionally.
2. Go to the beach or pool and relax.
3. Don't be afraid to nap during the day if needed.
4. Remind yourself of the things that make you happy.
5. Make some "ME" time every day.
6. Take brisk walks in the park.
7. Spend quality time with your family.
8. Spend time with God.
9. Do something creative.
10. Take time to do something kind for someone else.

This is a great blog because I too feel that it is very important that students and teachers take a break from school to have time for themselves outside of teaching and learning.

Loved your blog. You give some good advice. Very often, as educators we pour out so much of ourselves and forget to refresh and to refill our cups so that we can have that much more to give. It is important that we ensure that we get sufficient rest and that we nourish our minds and hearts if we are to survive the rigors of the classroom. Our students will be the better for it.

As I read your blog; I began to realize how much time is spent within instructional planning and teaching. As human beings it is important to take time foe ourselves to refresh our minds to ensure that adequate teaching is taking place. So often we get encumbered with our daily responsibilities that we forget we must take time to reflect and refurbish ourselves to preserve the enthusiasm for educating. Teaching is a job that takes a great deal of time and preparation that at times can hinder ones inner spirit. For this reason, one must uphold standards of living that foster happiness within oneself so that students may reap the benefits.
